The End

You fall into a deep sleep. Your mysterious companion visits you in your dream. She tells a tale of sadness and loss:

“My name is Lua. I am here to help you save your brother...

When you fell into the cave, you were knocked unconscious. The witch, who was hiding in the shadows nearby, took your brother and ran away with him. I tried to save him, but the witch was too powerful for me.

Before I help you retrieve your brother, I must tell you how the witch became so strong. I beg you to listen carefully to my words; though my tale is lengthy, it will help you find your beloved Alfonso.

Who is the witch? Her name is Lilith. At one time she was the most beautiful woman in the land. But instead of using her beauty for good, she became enamored with her own image. In time, she succumbed to the Queen of Sins, Pride...

One day, an old man gave her a magic mirror. Whenever the Moon is full, the mirror shows the future. At first, the mirror showed Lilith only the near future. She saw herself growing even more beautiful over the years.

But then one day the mirror showed her a future that will take place many years hence. This is a future when she will be an old woman — a time when her beauty has faded. Not only this, but the mirror showed her something even more upsetting: it revealed to her that Alfonso would grow up to become a man of courage and wisdom. He would some day defeat a terrifying and malicious dragon and become our king. Despite his rank, he would marry a humble maiden — Lilith’s own step-sister — who will be just as good and faithful as her husband. Together they will govern the land with humility and kindness...

Burning with dismay and envy, Lilith stole Alfonso from his cradle and hid him deep within a forest. She cursed the land and made hellish chasms open beneath the ground. She even upset the stars' home, the heavenly firmament.

When the firmament began to weaken under her diabolical might, it could no longer hold the stars, and they plummeted to the earth...

As you know, five is a sacred number representing marriage. This is why all stars have five points: in the starry firmament they had symbolized the marriage of the superlunary realm, Heaven, and the sublunary realm, Earth. But as the stars fell to Earth they lost their shape. Only in the sky do they have their proper form — here on Earth, they have dwindled into tiny points of light. Nonetheless, they retain all of their magical power. That is why your magical power grows whenever you catch a star.

A different fate befell the Moon. At first, she was able to resist the witch's magic. However, Lilith was determined to conquer her: she hated all things that brought light and peace to the land. In her desperation and thirst for dominion Lilith made a pact with an evil spirit. As a result, her diabolical powers grew tremendously...

Now the most powerful creature in the land, Lilith focused all of her energy against the Moon. The Moon's orbit became unstable, and eventually, like the stars, she too plummeted to the earth.

When the Moon fell from the sky she also changed in form. Unlike the stars, however, she took on an earthly shape, and became a woman...

Despite her human form, she is unable to communicate with earthly mortals — a heavenly creature, she can only express herself through light and supernatural aurae. But there is one exception: when she appears in an earthling's dream, she can speak a human language.

I am that woman! The stars are my brothers and sisters. I have come to you because I want to help you overcome the evil that has befallen us.

When you have captured enough stars, you will have enough magical power — what we call “mana” — to defeat the witch and rescue your brother. You will need to cast five different spells to defeat Lilith. I will teach you four of them...

The first spell will give you the ability to levitate. The second will allow you to become invisible. The third spell will allow you to teleport if it is cast while you are near a mirror. The fourth will allow you to talk to the dead — but this spell will fail if you are not near a burial ground when it is cast.

The spells that I will teach you all require mana. This mana is carried within each tiny star that you see. I will give you the ability to catch these stars. With every star you catch your mana grows. Do not despair if you cannot find enough stars; I will invite more of them to come to us. In time, you will be able to collect enough of them to increase your mana and defeat the witch.

By the time you awake, you will have received my knowledge of the four spells I have just described. The fifth spell, however, only another can teach you...

...Go forth, brave soul. I will follow you as far as I can!”
